Ralphs Improves Offer During One-Day Bargaining Session

Ralphs and UFCW SoCal Locals returned to the bargaining table this week, with discussions continuing late into the evening. The Company improved its economic offer as part of a continuing wage discussion.

This proposal reflects where discussions stand today. Bargaining is continuing, and we remain focused on working through wages and the other issues necessary to reach a final agreement.

What’s on the Table Now: Ralphs is proposing a three-year agreement that includes:

  • $1.75/hour wage increasein each year
  • No increase in healthcare costs, keeping pharmacist healthcare among the most affordable in California
  • An additional $0.50/hour Department Head premium
  • Up to 12 hours of holiday payfor pharmacists working 12-hour shifts
  • Company contributions to the supplemental pension

There is Still Work to Do

We know wages matter. They are also one part of the overall economic package being negotiated.

The company’s investments in healthcare, retirement benefits, and holiday pay are all included in the comprehensive wage and benefits package being discussed at the bargaining table. Our goal is to reach a final agreement that provides meaningful wage increases.

With six union locals at the table, each local representing its own members and priorities, reaching an agreement takes time. Meaningful progress requires finding common ground across the different interests at the table.

While our work this week represents incremental progress, we remain focused on building on that progress when wage discussions resume September 8th.

What Happens Next?

  • The company and union are scheduled to meet again on September 8th.
  • We remain committed to working with the six UFCW locals to reach an agreement that invests in our pharmacists and supports the long-term health of our pharmacies.
  • It remains business as usual in our stores. Our pharmacies are open, and pharmacists should continue reporting to work as scheduled.
  • We’ll continue sharing updates in stores and on RalphsCBA.com as negotiations progress. If you have questions, please ask your store management team or submit a question online.
