Negotiation Updates

We understand that UFCW SoCal Locals recently asked members to attend a meeting to vote on strike authorization. We don’t understand why the union is asking you to go down this road now. It doesn’t make sense. Consider the following:

• We have made progress on language and health care proposals.
• We have been discussing wages but have not come to an agreement.
• We have not yet received the union’s pension proposal.
• Why is the union asking you to jeopardize potentially your paycheck and benefits?
• Ralphs is committed to investing in higher wages, affordable health care, and a pension for when you retire.
• You can influence the union’s request for strike authorization by voting at the union’s upcoming meetings and voting “NO” to strike authorization.

We believe no one wins with a strike. We know this creates a lot of uncertainty for you and your family. We encourage you to call your union representative to ask that they return to the bargaining table and continue working to get reach an agreement that is a win-win for you and the company.

You may start seeing us making contingency plans, including advertising for temporary workers. It’s not something we want to do but must do to keep our stores operational during a work stoppage.
