The company and union bargaining committees met again last week to negotiate your new contract.
As a reminder, negotiations are about sharing ideas, answering questions and addressing concerns on both sides. During our time together, the company and union both presented initial proposals on wages. More discussion needs to take place on wages and we have not reached an agreement on total compensation, which would include more pay, premium health care coverage and pension benefits for retirement.
We also discussed and made some progress on health care. We have heard that the union says our current proposal cuts your health care benefits. This is not true! Over the life of the new contract, we would contribute more to your health care than we do today to maintain your premium benefits.
Ralphs is committed to a contract that will provide good stable jobs and competitive pay and benefits for our associates. It also must keep our stores competitive in this changing and competitive retail environment.
